The Nuts and Bolts of Workplace Investigations

This workshop is designed to provide participants with the fundamental skills and information they need to effectively conduct workplace investigations. Workshop participants will learn about each stage of the investigatory process and develop an understanding of the elements that comprise a full and fair investigation. 

 

This workshop has been approved for 1 (HR (General)) recertification credit hours toward California, GPHR, HRBP, HRMP, PHR and SPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute as well as 1 PDC credit for SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with the fundamental skills and information they need to effectively conduct workplace investigations. Workshop participants will learn about each stage of the investigatory process and develop an understanding of the elements that comprise a full and fair investigation.

 Examples of topics covered include establishing investigatory parameters, gathering evidence, questioning witnesses, assessing witness credibility, and making a final determination and recommendation. Potential sources of employer liability that may arise if an investigation is not conducted properly are also discussed.

 The running time of this workshop is approximately one hour and includes a narrated slide presentation, checkpoints to confirm participation, and a number of questions embedded within the presentation. There is also a final knowledge check at the end of the workshop; a certificate will be awarded once a participant scores at least 80%.
